With 2024 upon us, it's time to craft resolutions that will truly transform the landscape of Global Mobility. Unlike conventional goals, I'm committed to seeing these aspirations materialize in the coming year.

  • Enhance Employee Experience 

My resolution is to help one company improve the overall experience of employees involved in global assignments. An assignment is a major life change for an employee, often made at the request of the business. By fostering a positive experience, we ensure that we’re taking care of our employees and setting them up for a successful assignment experience. I find that offering cultural training at the start of the assignment can have a great impact, paving the way for a smooth integration. In addition, I recommend that programs regularly gather feedback to identify areas for improvement. 

  • Promote ESG Initiatives

In 2024, I resolve to help an organization incorporate more Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives into their program. By fostering an inclusive and sustainable mobility program, mobility practitioners ensure the success and longevity for their programs. Some have focused on creating a supportive environment for employees from different backgrounds, while others have directed their attention to incorporating sustainability considerations into housing and logistics decisions. Fully sustainable and inclusive programs may take time to develop, but the new year is a great time to refocus on these initiatives. 

  • Get Fit 

No, not in the gym! I’m hoping to help a Mobility program get fit for purpose in 2024. Too often, we see programs doling out benefits without thinking of the purpose that mobility holds within their organization. By taking a step back and defining a mission statement that aligns to the company’s goals, Mobility often learns that their benefits have not been designed with the program’s mission in mind. In 2024, I’m hoping to help organizations build policy suites that are fit for purpose for the mission of Mobility.  

 

This year, my resolutions aim to drive meaningful change in Global Mobility, from prioritizing employee well-being, to embracing sustainability, and ensuring that policies are purposefully aligned with organizational goals. Let’s let 2024 be the year these resolutions reshape the Global Mobility landscape!
