AIRINC believes in sustainable business practices.  To that end, we have made a commitment to reduce our Scope 2 carbon emissions by 30% by 2030, as well as track our Scope 3 emissions*. Our commitment has been validated and approved by theScience Based Targetsinitiative. This type of bold commitment is important in maintaining global temperature rises below two degrees Celsius.

AIRINC uses historical and current data to establish our status, track progress, and sustain our commitment to emissions reduction. Our data includes five years' worth of emissions tracking such as our offices' energy usage, business travel, employees' commuting, and estimated energy usage for employees working from home. We continue to monitor and review our energy usage and emissions output each year, identifying our major areas of emissions and working to reduce them even as we grow.

In 2023, two more of our regional offices moved from independent to shared office spaces, significantly reduced our energy usage for our Scope 2-purchased energy between 2022 and 2023. Our total emissions from purchased energy usage are down just over 15% from last year. Purchased energy for working spaces makes up a significant portion of our overall emissions.

However, our energy usage and emissions from Scope 3-business activities have increased from last year, due to increased business travel post-pandemic and needs for our growing company. That said, our Scope 3 emissions are 79% below our base year of 2018.

Overall, our emissions increased 8% from last year; however, our totals are still down over 60% from our 2018 numbers due to more strategic business travel and a reduced office footprint.

Our global, cross-functional sustainability team, with executive support and commitment, will continue to support a more sustainable AIRINC with both large and small activities that make a difference. We will continue to track and report our emissions data as we grow sustainability.
